Chobble Tickets vs Resova

Resova is an activity booking platform built for escape rooms, tours, and experiences. Here is how a general-purpose, open source ticketing platform compares.

Pricing comparison

Resova charges a flat monthly subscription rather than taking a cut of each ticket. The Pro plan is $72/month (approximately £685/year) when billed annually, covering up to 300 bookings per month. The Lite plan is $40/month (approximately £380/year) with a 100-bookings-per-month limit, and the Premium plan is $108/month (approximately £1025/year) with a 600-bookings limit. Bookings above your plan's limit cost $0.20 (about 16p) each.

Payment processing is separate, through Stripe, PayPal, Square, or Resova's own SpeedPay product.

Chobble Tickets is a flat £50/year with no per-ticket fees and no monthly booking limits, plus Stripe processing at 1.5% + 20p. Registered charities, schools, and community groups pay £25/year.

Feature comparison

Resova and Chobble Tickets are built for different things. Resova is designed for operators who sell the same experience again and again - an escape room with three rooms running hourly slots, a kayak rental with equipment to track, a museum with timed-entry tickets. Chobble Tickets is built for one-off and recurring events where the focus is the event itself, not the resource scheduling behind it.

Both platforms share some features:

  • Online booking with payment processing
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay at checkout (via Stripe)
  • QR code scanning for check-in
  • Email confirmations to attendees after booking
  • Capacity management to prevent overselling
  • Refund processing from the admin panel
  • Recurring events and timed slots
  • Custom questions at checkout
  • Reporting on bookings and revenue

Resova has features Chobble Tickets doesn't:

  • Resource scheduling - assign bookings to specific rooms, instructors, boats, or pieces of equipment, and prevent double-booking of shared resources across different experiences
  • Digital waivers - collect signed liability waivers at booking time and store them against the customer record, which matters for escape rooms, climbing, axe-throwing, and similar activities
  • SMS reminders - send text-message confirmations and reminders to customers, not just email
  • Built-in CRM - persistent customer profiles with notes, custom fields, and activity tracking across every booking
  • Abandoned booking recovery - automated follow-up emails to people who started a booking but did not complete checkout
  • Walk-in bookings - take bookings at the door through the admin interface alongside online bookings
  • Gift voucher system - sell monetary or experience-specific vouchers online that customers redeem at checkout
  • Promo codes - create discount codes and promotional offers for specific campaigns
  • Deposits - take a deposit at booking instead of the full amount up front
  • Multi-location management - run bookings across several venues from one account
  • SpeedPay - Resova's own payment-processing product as an alternative to integrating Stripe, PayPal, or Square
  • Mailchimp and Facebook integrations - connect bookings to existing marketing tools out of the box
  • Google Analytics - built-in tracking for bookings and conversions
  • Multi-currency subscriptions - pay for your Resova plan in US dollars, Canadian dollars, euros, pounds, or Australian dollars

Chobble Tickets has features Resova doesn't:

  • End-to-end encryption - attendee data is encrypted at rest with hybrid RSA-OAEP + AES-256-GCM, not just stored in a database
  • Open source - every line of code is public under AGPLv3
  • Self-hosting option - run the platform on your own servers for free, with no licence fee and no per-booking cap
  • Flat annual pricing - £50/year with no per-booking caps, no overage fees, and no monthly subscription
  • Apple & Google Wallet tickets - attendees can add tickets to both Apple Wallet and Google Wallet
  • ICS calendar feeds - subscribers get automatic calendar updates
  • RSS feeds - syndicate your events to feed readers
  • Tiered ticket types via groups - create VIP, early bird, and other tiers using event groups with a shared capacity cap
  • Pay-what-you-want pricing - let attendees choose their own price
  • Daily/recurring events - per-date capacity with calendar picker and holiday blackouts
  • Custom questions - add multiple-choice questions to events and collect structured answers at checkout, with answers visible across the admin interface, CSV exports, and webhooks
  • Public & admin API - RESTful JSON API for building custom integrations, plus authenticated admin API with full event CRUD via API keys
  • Webhooks - outbound POST on every registration for custom integrations
  • Event groups - organise related events into collections for multi-event bookings with a single checkout
  • Custom email providers - use Resend, Postmark, SendGrid, or Mailgun so emails come from your domain
  • Customisable email templates - full control over confirmation emails with Liquid syntax for a fully white-label experience
  • Custom domain - get a yourname.tix.chobble.net subdomain instantly, or point your own domain
  • Embeddable widget - drop an iframe into your website
  • No booking limits - sell as many tickets as you like on one plan, with no overage charges
  • Community Interest Company - run by a CIC, not a privately-owned for-profit company

Data ownership

With Resova, your customer data, waivers, and booking history live on Resova's servers. The platform keeps your data for 30 days after cancellation, after which it is deleted. Resova is a commercial SaaS product, so you depend on the company continuing to operate and on paying your subscription every month.

With Chobble Tickets, attendee data is encrypted at rest, so even someone with database access cannot read names, emails, or custom question answers without your private key. The entire platform is open source under AGPLv3, so if Chobble ever shut down, you could run the exact same software on your own servers.

When Resova might be the better choice

  • You run an escape room, activity, tour, or timed-entry experience
  • You need digital waiver collection at the point of booking
  • You need resource scheduling across rooms, guides, or equipment
  • You want a built-in CRM that tracks repeat customers
  • You want SMS reminders in addition to email
  • You want to take walk-in bookings alongside online bookings
  • You want to take deposits rather than full payment at booking
  • You are running multiple venues and want unified reporting
  • You sell well over 600 bookings a month and still want a single flat plan

When Chobble Tickets is the better choice

  • You run events, gigs, conferences, classes, or one-off bookings rather than a repeating activity business
  • You want flat pricing with no monthly booking limits or overage fees
  • You sell a modest number of tickets and don't want to pay £380+ a year for a booking platform
  • Privacy and encryption matter to you
  • You value open source and the ability to self-host
  • You're a community group, charity, or school (£25/year)
  • You want Apple/Google Wallet, calendar feeds, or a public API
  • You don't want a platform marketing to your attendees

Who owns Resova?

Resova is run by Resova Ltd, a UK-registered company (Company No. 09559910), incorporated in April 2015 and previously named Bookify Ltd until March 2017. It is a private company focused on the escape room, activity, and attractions market.

Chobble Tickets is run by one person as a Community Interest Company (CIC) - a UK legal structure that locks the company's assets for community benefit. All of Chobble's code is public under AGPLv3, and the platform can be self-hosted by anyone without depending on Chobble as a company.
