Chobble Tickets is a white label ticketing platform made in the UK by a community interest company. Its source code is published under the AGPL-3.0-only licence, so anyone can read it, fork it, or run their own copy. Ticket Monkey does not publish its source code.

Ticket Monkey charges 25p per paid ticket on its Core tier, including VAT, with no percentage on top. Chobble Tickets charges £50/year or £5/month whatever the volume, so on the 25p rate the £50 annual plan crosses over at about 200 paid tickets a year, or about 100 for organisers on the £25/year community rate (charities, community groups, artists and musicians). The £5 monthly plan comes to £60 a year, which crosses over at about 240 tickets.

The managed full-service tier is priced as a custom percentage. Payment processing runs through your own Stripe account at Stripe's rates (1.5% + 20p for UK cards) and is charged separately.

Ticket Monkey lets you absorb the 25p, pass it to the buyer, or set your own fee and keep the difference. If you pass it on, buyers pay the 25p and your own platform cost per ticket is close to nothing.

Free tickets are free up to 500 per event and 2,500 per year on Ticket Monkey. Beyond those caps, the 25p rate applies to free tickets too.

Data ownership

Ticket Monkey is a proprietary platform. Your event data lives on its servers, and it does not document a self-hosting option or a data-export route, so on the sources reviewed you would depend on its continued operation. Its privacy policy states that Ticket Monkey acts as a processor for the event organiser, who is the data controller and decides how attendee data is used.

Ticket Monkey states that it does not use organiser event data to market to attendees. It also markets its own similar services to people who have bought from or contacted it, and its policy does not expressly say whether ticket buyers fall in that group. It states that it encrypts data in transit and uses access controls.

With Chobble Tickets, attendee data is encrypted at rest and stays under your control, readable only in an authorised keyed administration session. The entire platform is open source under AGPLv3, so you can run the same code on your own server at any time without depending on Chobble as a company.

When Ticket Monkey might be the better choice

It describes a founder-run team with backgrounds in events operations, marketing and finance. Its current version is described as a 2.0 launch.

Chobble is a Community Interest Company (CIC) run by one person, a UK legal structure that locks the company's assets for community benefit. All Chobble Tickets source code is public under AGPLv3, and the platform can be self-hosted by anyone without depending on Chobble as a company.
