Chobble Tickets vs Weezevent

Weezevent is a French event platform covering ticketing, access control, cashless payments and staff management. This page compares it with Chobble Tickets on pricing, features and data handling.

Open source & cheaper Weezevent alternative

Chobble Tickets is a white label ticketing platform made in the UK by a community interest company. Its source code is published under the AGPL-3.0-only licence, so anyone can read it, fork it, or run their own copy. Weezevent does not publish its source code.

Weezevent charges 2.5% + £0.99 including tax on each paid ticket sold online, with banking fees included. Chobble Tickets charges £50/year or £5/month, and payment processing is separate.

On a £15 ticket that is £1.37 to Weezevent. Taking Stripe's UK rate of 1.5% + 20p as the processing cost, an organiser selling more than about 55 tickets at £15 in a year pays less with Chobble Tickets. Square or SumUp rates give a different figure.

What is Weezevent?

Weezevent started in France in 2008 and now has around 260 staff across offices in France, Spain, Canada, Switzerland, Belgium, the UK, the Netherlands and Germany. It says it has been used by 500,000 event organisers. It also owns the UK ticketing company Kaboodle.

The product is broader than ticketing. WeezTicket sells tickets, WeezAccess handles door scanning, WeezPay runs cashless wristbands and cards, WeezCrew manages volunteers and accreditation, and Gigz covers email, SMS and advertising.

Its main customers are festivals, venues and large outdoor events. Named clients include Tomorrowland, Live Nation and PSG.

Pricing comparison

Weezevent charges 2.5% + £0.99 including tax on each paid ticket sold online. There is no setup fee and no subscription, and free events cost nothing. Banking fees are included in the ticket fee, so there is no separate card processing charge.

On a £15 ticket that is £1.37. On a £30 ticket it is £1.74. Because most of the charge is fixed, the fee weighs more heavily on cheap tickets: on a £5 ticket it is £1.11, or 22% of the price.

Chobble Tickets is a flat £50/year or £5/month (£25/year for charities and community groups on the annual plan) with no per-ticket platform fees. Stripe, Square or SumUp processing (1.5% + 20p) is paid on top. Selling more than about 55 tickets at £15 in a year costs less with Chobble Tickets.

The other Weezevent products are priced separately. WeezAccess is free, WeezPay costs £1.20 per cashless transaction, and WeezCrew starts at £1,000.

"Your share" assumes the organiser pays the fees out of the ticket price. Where a platform lets the organiser add its fees on top, the buyer pays them and the organiser keeps more than the figure shown. These figures exclude VAT and cover paid tickets. Several platforms charge nothing for free tickets, and the notes below record that where it is published.

Weezevent fees: 2.5% + £0.99 including tax on each paid ticket sold online, with banking fees included and no setup fee or subscription. Free events cost nothing. Ticket income is paid out every 15 days. Chobble Tickets: £50/year or £5/month flat (£25/year for community groups, charities and schools) + Stripe processing (1.5% + 20p). Payouts

Weezevent pays ticket income out every 15 days. Money from a sale therefore sits with Weezevent until the next payout date, and the published pricing page does not describe an advance payout option.

Chobble Tickets uses Stripe, Square or SumUp directly, so payments go straight to the organiser's own payment processor account. Payouts follow that processor's schedule, typically 2 to 3 business days from each sale, and the ticketing platform never holds the money.

Data ownership and privacy

Weezevent's privacy policy states that data is collected on behalf of the event organiser, who is the data owner, and that access is controlled through the organiser's back office. It says Weezevent may access the data when providing support. The policy does not set out whether Weezevent markets to attendees on its own behalf.

The stated retention period for participant data is five years, or until a deletion request. Transaction records are kept for five years after the event as accounting documents.

With Chobble Tickets, attendee names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses and custom answers are encrypted before storage, and the organiser's key unlocks them. Chobble does not use attendee records for advertising or to market other events, as described on the no attendee marketing page.

Honest advertising

Ticketing is a crowded market, and some of the promotion in it is not what it appears to be. Search results, review sites, "best of" lists and forum recommendations are all places where paid or undisclosed promotion turns up.

Five Reddit accounts have posted about Weezevent across ticketing, event production, festival, conference, theatre, trade show, clubbing and small business subreddits during 2026. Weezevent is recommended in almost every post they have made.

Some are long comparison articles ending on Weezevent, such as "Eventbrite Alternative - 2026". Others are questions with Weezevent already named in them, and one account left the same opening sentence on three different threads on a single day. Several of the accounts describe their own use of Weezevent in ways that contradict their earlier posts.

Reddit does not publish who is behind an account, so there is no way to establish from the outside who runs them or whether Weezevent knows about them. The honest advertising page sets out the posts and the contradictions with links to each one.

The wider pattern is easier to document. Ticketing companies buy search ads on competitors' names, pay for placement in "top 10 ticketing platform" articles, offer incentives for reviews, and publish comparison pages that quote their own fees favourably against out-of-date figures for everyone else.

This page is a comparison page written by a competitor, so it is not a neutral source either. Every Weezevent figure on it is dated, sourced and linked below, so it can be checked. The honest advertising page explains how Chobble handles promotion and what that costs it.

When Weezevent might be the better choice

  • You run a festival or large outdoor event and want cashless bars, access control hardware and ticketing from one provider
  • You need allocated seating for a theatre or stadium
  • You manage a large volunteer or crew operation and want rotas and accreditation in the same system
  • You want a built-in marketing and CRM suite for email, SMS and WhatsApp campaigns
  • You want official ticket resale between attendees
  • You expect high-demand on-sales that need a virtual queue
  • You sell a small number of tickets a year, so a per-ticket fee costs less than a flat fee
  • You want 24/7 phone support

When Chobble Tickets is the better choice

  • You want predictable, flat-rate pricing with no per-ticket platform fees
  • You sell enough tickets that 2.5% + £0.99 adds up to more than £50 a year
  • Your tickets are cheap, so a fixed 99p charge takes a large share of each sale
  • You want ticket income to arrive through your own Stripe, Square or SumUp account rather than in fortnightly payouts
  • Encryption at rest and control over attendee data matter to you
  • You want a public API or webhooks for custom integrations
  • You are a community group, charity or school (£25/year)
  • You want Apple and Google Wallet passes or calendar and RSS feeds
  • You value open source and the ability to self-host

Who owns Weezevent?

Weezevent SAS was founded in France in 2008 by Pierre-Henri Deballon and Sébastien Tonglet, who still lead the company. It is a private company with around 260 staff and offices in eight countries. It acquired the UK ticketing company Kaboodle to extend its ticketing products.

Chobble Tickets is run by one person as a Community Interest Company (CIC), a UK legal structure that locks the company's assets for community benefit. All of Chobble's code is public under AGPLv3, and the platform can be self-hosted by anyone without depending on Chobble as a company.
