For webinars, online classes and hybrid events

Registration for online and hybrid events

Chobble Tickets handles the registration, the money and the list. The event itself happens on whatever software you already use, and you send the joining link to the people who booked.

What Chobble Tickets does here

An online session is an ordinary listing. It can be free or paid, it has its own capacity and deadline.

A course that meets on the same link every week is one daily listing, with places counted for each date. When each session has its own joining link, that still works, because email can be addressed to one date of the course rather than to the whole term.

The same setup covers webinars, online classes and courses, remote workshops, talks and lectures, committee and members' meetings, and streamed concerts.

Custom questions collect what you need before the day, and paid places go through Stripe, Square or SumUp into your own account with no Chobble per-ticket fee.

How the joining link reaches people

Send it with bulk email. A campaign targets the attendees of one listing, so shortly before the session you email that group the link, and send a reminder the same way on the day. Messages go through your own email provider, and the preview shows the recipient count before anything is sent.

A term booked date by date can be addressed one date at a time. Choose the date on the listing's attendee list, then email that date's group, so a week's link reaches that week rather than the whole term.

Send it as news rather than as a promotion. News about something the person booked reaches everyone whose booking left an email address, including anyone who has unsubscribed from promotions.

Ask for an email address on an online listing. Contact fields are yours to choose, and an online session is the case where the email is the only way in.

Do not put the link in the listing's description or its location field. Both are public, so anyone who finds the page would have the link without booking.

Confirmation email templates are set for the whole site rather than for one listing, so they suit a standing instruction such as where the link will come from, rather than the link to one session.

Hybrid events

When a talk happens in a room and online at the same time, sell the two as separate listings in one group. Each has its own capacity, so the room fills up independently of the online places, and the group gives both a single page to link to.

People in the room are checked in by scanning a phone camera over their ticket. An online attendee holds the same QR ticket, but nobody is standing there to scan it, so their place is only marked as attended if you search the list and check them in by hand.

Because the two are separate listings, the joining link goes to the online listing's attendees only, and a change of venue goes to the other list.

What it does not do

Chobble Tickets hosts no video, audio or chat. Zoom, Google Meet, Jitsi, Teams, YouTube, Twitch or anything else runs the session, and Chobble Tickets never sees it.

A listing has no joining-link field. The link is something you send to the people who booked, which means sending it is a step you have to remember, and anyone who forwards it can pass it on. There is no unique link for each attendee and nothing checks who used it.

Nothing records who joined. Attendance is whatever the video service reports, and the booking list can be marked up by hand from the admin panel if you want the two to match. There is no recording distribution and no waiting list.

Related uses

Classes and courses covers the same repeating structure for sessions in a room. Workshops covers one-off sessions, and free events that still need a headcount covers registration with no charge.
