A repeating night is set up once

A weekly quiz or a monthly live night is a daily listing. Each date carries its own capacity, so a full week does not close the following one, and blackout dates stop bookings on the weeks the pub is shut or the bank holiday falls on quiz night.

The same setup covers quiz nights, open mic and live music, tap takeovers, tasting evenings, supper clubs, comedy nights and screenings.

A one-off night is a standard listing, and duplicating a listing copies the setup for the next one.

Setting up a free night and a ticketed one

A free listing needs no payment provider at all. Quiz teams claim a table through a sign-up form with a place limit, answer any questions you add, and receive a confirmation email.

When a night is ticketed, the audience pays the price you set. Chobble Tickets adds no per-ticket platform fee, and Stripe, Square or SumUp pays the money into the pub's own account.

Money taken at the door on the night is recorded against the same listing in the ledger, alongside advance sales and the costs of putting the night on.

Selling at the bar and on the wall

Every listing has a printable QR code that links to its booking page, so a poster by the bar or on the pump clip takes a customer straight to the night.

Staff can also show a booking code from a phone or tablet at the bar. The code is signed and expires a few minutes after it appears, so a photograph of the screen is no use later.

When the name and price are already filled in and the listing asks nothing else, the customer goes straight to paying. A night that asks for an email address or a question takes them to the booking form first, with what you filled in already there.

The pub's public site can list every upcoming night, or the booking form can be embedded in the website the pub already has. The same dates also publish as a calendar feed a regular can subscribe to in their phone, and as a feed a local listings site can read.

Features for pub events

  • Promo codes and add-ons

Early-bird prices with a stock limit, so a discount applies to a fixed number of orders and then stops.

  • Manual attendees

Add walk-ins, comps and the band's guest list from the admin panel so the door list is complete.

  • Attendee email

Email everyone booked on a listing when the act changes, the start time moves or the night is called off.

  • QR check-in

Scan tickets on the door with a phone camera, with a warning when a ticket has already been scanned.

  • Refunds

Refund one booking, or everyone booked on a cancelled night, from the admin panel.

  • Encrypted attendee data

Customer names, contact details and answers are encrypted in the database, and Chobble does not advertise to them.

What it does not do

Chobble Tickets sells places at events. It is not a table reservation diary, and it does not offer hourly booking slots, so it does not replace a restaurant-style booking system for ordinary service. It has no seat map, so every ticket is general admission.

It does not connect to a till or a point of sale system, and it does not manage stock behind the bar. Payment for a ticket is separate from whatever the customer spends on the night.

Paid checkout does not hold a place. Capacity is used only when payment confirmation arrives, and if two confirmations race for the last place, the later order is refunded automatically.
