For community centres and village halls

Booking software for community centres and village halls

Take bookings for the hall and for the sessions the hall runs itself, on one site a committee can share. Charities and community groups pay £25 a year for managed hosting.

Hiring the hall out

Each room is a daily listing with a capacity of one, so a confirmed booking uses every date it occupies and a later paid order that no longer fits is refunded automatically. Hirers choose from the durations and total prices the hall publishes.

Custom questions collect the event type, expected numbers, alcohol, furniture and access needs before a booking is accepted, and terms can be shown beside a required agreement at checkout.

A booking can take the full amount or a deposit, with the balance paid later through a link. Bank transfers and cheques are recorded against the same outstanding balance.

The programme the hall runs itself

Lunch clubs, exercise classes, toddler groups, coffee mornings, warm spaces, film nights and parish meetings each become a listing with capacity for every date, and blackout dates for the weeks the hall is closed.

A session with no charge needs no payment provider. It works as a sign-up form with a place limit, a confirmation email and a list the organiser can print or export.

Servicing holds take dates out of use for a deep clean, decorating or a floor repair without inventing a customer booking. What the work cost is recorded against the room it was spent on, so the repair reaches that room's money record.

Access for a committee

Volunteers get their own accounts. An editor can write listings and site pages but holds no data key, so attendee details stay unreadable to them. A manager runs the day-to-day back office, while inviting other people and changing the site's settings stay with the owner.

Attendee names, contact details and answers are encrypted in the database. The hall chooses which contact fields to collect, so a free coffee morning need not ask for a phone number or an address it will never use.

The ledger records hire income, ticket income, money taken at the door and the costs of an event, which is the record a treasurer reports from. Listings and their attendees also export as CSV with the revenue figures alongside them.

Features for halls and centres

  • Community rate

Charities, community groups, artists and musicians pay £25 a year, half the annual price. The discount does not apply to monthly billing.

  • Your public website

Publish the hall's own site on its own domain, with Chobble branding removed, or embed booking in the site it already has.

  • Attendee email

Email everyone booked on a listing when a class is cancelled or the hall has to close.

  • QR check-in

Check people in with a phone camera, or search the list by name at the door.

  • Backups and catalogue transfer

Download a complete database backup, or export a listing as a file that another Chobble Tickets site can import.

  • Privacy controls

Erase a person's contact record on request, and clear out the booking records a deleted listing leaves behind.

What it does not do

Chobble Tickets books whole days and ranges of days. It does not offer hourly slots, so a hall that lets rooms by the hour to different groups on the same day cannot represent that here.

It does not sync with an external calendar, so a booking diary kept in Google Calendar or Outlook stays separate. A staff calendar feed of bookings can be subscribed to, but changes do not travel back the other way.

Paid checkout does not hold a place. Capacity is used only when payment confirmation arrives.
